I've been looking for a Mountain Bike to use for Shoreline Trapping Red Fox in inaccessible areas where Motor Vehicles cannot go, or are not allowed. I Found one at the first of Four yard sales in Granby Center near Fulton, N.Y. this morning for the Bargain price of $40.00, so I'm all set for "Offroad Fox trapping" this late fall. I also pickup a LOOOONNNGGG shafted/handled Grumman Canoe paddle for paddling while standing up for 10 Bucks. This paddle will work great for motivating the Canoe while spotting Muskrat Feed Beds, Channels, Den holes, and other sign while paddling from an elevated, standing position The highlight of the morning, though, was this Quad of Long Springs I snatched up for a mere $8.00 including two STRONG #1 Oneida/Victor Long Springs; A Blake & Lamb #1 Surehold Stoploss; and a Triumph High Grip #115 Long Spring which is a older trap but in Good Condition with an 85% readable pan. A nice one to hang on the wall. To Paraphrase Grampa FLATIRON: "A slow steady drip fills walleyed's Trap Warehouse". LOL The Craig's List/Estate Auction/Garage & Lawn Sale Trap Season is upon us and I will try to give NYRAT a run for his money. Thanks for looking. Stay Tuned. walleyed

I tried that standing up while paddling this fall. It does help while scouting for muskrats.
Good luck hunting for traps!

...back to that High Grip... That's a good user trap. I have several and they have many rats to their credit. Good traps. Nice score. Now let's see you on that bike.

bob you would probably be better on one of them 3 wheel bikes as you would fit in with the natives up there on the beach.& have a big basket to put all your trapping goodies in.

New Wave Dave is officially RETIRED from trapping with walleyed at this juncture.
The strain of the 174 day season plus the prospects of drying, skinning, fleshing, stretching, combing of the Fur catch was more effort and time than New Wave Dave wanted to invest in Trapping.
I believe the conversation went something like: "I have a Life besides trapping"
LOL
The Dwarf Beaver trapper. Law enforcement Regulation "Expert"on "Trapline Crime & Punishment"
says I cannot utilize a Bicycle to travel along Lake Ontario Beaches, below the high water mark.
I guess I'm dead in the water.

That's too b ad about your sidekick. I have a guy about his age that had the same idea 2 years ago. He lasted about 2 weeks. He still stops by the shop and asks questions and talks about trapping on his own (he never will). Anyway. Dave will get older and come back around. At his age he'd be weird if he didn't chase tail for a few years.
