My son Jordan and i drove by our spot this morning on the way to school and there was a HUGE tom in full strut rite in the middle of the spot where i plan on setting our decoys!hope he shoots as good as he traps cause he is a wall hanger for sure.

just hope the weather holds. Don't mind the rain but the wind is a real killer. This will be my daughter's last youth hunt before she ages out.

Had one all set up for Saturday but my son bailed on me. Thats the way it goes sometimes I know the feeling. I have a cousin who just turned 12 this month, he got a 870 20 ga for his birthday and everything....but family vacation took precident over the hunter education course so no go on the youth hunt. There is always next year though ;D

My middle son finished his hunter safety recently. So now my two oldest sons are ready to go. However my wife is working this weekend (and on May 1) and I don't yet have the courage to try to take my antsy 6 year old son along with us. It looks like May 3 will be the first hunt for the three of us.
Up until now I've been a big fan of diaphragm calls. However with one boy hunting on either side of me I'll have my hands free to use a slate or box call.
Good luck everyone!
