I also have this 16' canoe, narrower gunwale than the 14' but carries more payload. Use this when bringing a guest or hauling lots of weight in cargo. Bought it for $150 at a yard sale... used canoes are all over the place in summer and fall for $200ish range. It's floating in less than a foot of water there while I fetch the double out of #160s in a quick-sand type bottom run. The 14' model pictured earlier has wider gunwale, very stable and maneuverable. I see models just like that in Bass Pro (Auburn) and Dicks - Gander MT (Rochester) stores. Sometimes the identical model to 14' posted earlier, sometimes updated but still below $400 brand new which is cheap for what they deliver. My next addition is a 17' square stern for bulk of use next season, but the 14' still has a role in the small waters Attachments:

Thanks,I did look in both stores and they don't sell that model any more, At lest by me (south of Albany) I have a March 2011 trapper and caller mag that has that same canoe in it By the looks of it you might need a bigger one, so when your ready to sell yours let me know ;D was thinking of you today while at Gander Mt in Henrietta NY. Exact-same Rogue River model, 14' and only difference is green rather than red for $399 sale price. that was a lot more reasonable than the $25 I coughed up for a five pack of 3.5" hevi-shot rounds. $5 per shell is mighty steep... but when the gun goes "bang" there is a very dead bird downrange, every time. $100+ for the PA license, $100ish for the motel room & breakfast, no telling how much gets spent at Ackleys in Westfield PA on Friday night ahead of the opener. I guess when it's all put in context like that, $5 is cheap insurance that any bird in range is another longbeard on the mantle after all that time & effort involved

I started out with a 12' x 32" Jonboat. Never again. It was narrow, no keel. and tippsy. That boat could not handle any chop! I found a beautiful 1980 Sea Nymph 12 foot V-hull on Craigs List, paid dearly for it. It is called a 12K. K stands for Kar Lite. I think it weighs around 100 pounds and I can handle myself with ease. Easy to car top and takes up to a ten horse motor. I also use a small boat dolly at the boat ramp because I don't want to drag it.

Thanks, but, to late i just bought a canoe i found on Craig list.I did a lot of research and found what i think would be the best canoe for me (Old Town, stillwater) but new 1,100 dollars way to much for this hobby trapper. Than a couple days looking on Craig list there it was for 300 bucks.the canoe is 12' with a 41'' width and weighs 54 lbs. beavers beware ;D ;D
