Just had two dozen brand new Victor #3 traps come in for baseplates and new dogs. Have not worked on some of these in a long time. Very nice trap. strong springs and heavy frame. The forged jaws are great and the tips turn up very high where the go through the frame...perfect for coyotes. I compared to the popular Bridger #3 which is NOT legal in NY because the inside jaw spread is over 5 3/4" (just a bit over 6" actually) The Bridger #3 must have inside lams to become NY legal while the Victor #3 has an inside jaw spread of 5 3/8". The only drawback of the victor as compared to the Bridger is the spring pin length. The Bridger has a long enough spring pin to just add a 4-coil springs. The Victor would need a new, longer spring pin to 4-coil or a Taos spring kit. Another interesting find is that the area inside the jaws are almost exactly the same with a significant difference of inside measured jaw spread. (see pic) Frame material thickness is basically the same but the Victor jaws are 1/32" thicker. The forged edge is even larger Bridgers - $145 / dozen (MUST have inside lams to be NY legal) Victors - $149 Overall...a fine , well built, affordable trap. I would not be afraid to consider it.

I know Scott has been using them with great success.
Eric uses the #2's and swears by them

I run lots of victor and duke #3's and once the work is done they are the same trap.I dont recall any of my victors having the tips bent up like yours.

I do like the 2's, but I have to admit, I plan to get a few dozen #3's to add to the collection... What i'm finding with the 2's is that the springs are weekening after about 5 years.... We lost a couple Yotes in them this past year.. The first year that has happened..
The tips on the newer Voctor 3's are bent up like that. Rugged trap.... A friend of mine uses them with great success...
The only downfall I see, is digging out a (fox specific) step-down set. The mouth of the hole needs to be bigger, I prefer the mouth to be as small as possible to force the fox onto the pan.. Just a personal preference.....

nightstalker, I noticed in the top side by side pic that the upturned jaw tips seem to be wider than the slot in the levers do you think they could accidently get caught in there or have a slight snag there that may slow the trap down? maybe need to file/grind them a bit to eliminate that possibilty? let me also say from what I see on here you are the MAN when it comes to trap mods!!

The holes in the frame for the jaws are large enough to accomodate the jaws with no interefence
