Good morning- This saturday will be my first trip to the Mannsville Fur Auction. I look forward to the trip and will be bringing along a young man from one of my classes as his first experience to an auction. I saw the directions in the calendar and seem pretty straight forward. Is there anything other particulars that someone new to this auction should be aware of?
I see there is a $5 membership fee, and a 10% commission. Doors open at 8am. What time do people start lining up. We are planning on leaving around 6am and assuming there is no troubles, should be about an hour 15 minute trip.
Thanks for any information-

Woj,
First... Thank you for planning to attend, I know you have to travel a ways and thanks for introducing the young man to the auction, hopefully it will be a great experience for him.
One thing that will help the fur check-in process is to have your fur sorted and and bundled or boxed up by Lot. We will add a tag with lot number, species and quantity.
You can sell each piece individually if you like, but if you have the same species with basically the same quality, size and primness, they can be bundled up with a piece of string, wire or Ty-wrap through the eye or some other orifice to hold them together. This really helps speed up the process.
You also have the right to No-Sale your fur when it's on the auction table if you don't like the price offered at the end of the bidding, just tell the auctioneer, No-Sale and you take it back home. However, if you drop your fur off and leave, it will be sold at the bidders highest price.
Anything else you need to know just let me know. Charlie

Thanks guys. I know this one doesn't get the attendance of Herkimer but prices always seem fair and reasonable. I figured this was the best one to introduce a newbie to. I have been to GVTA in the past. Same distance either way for me.
Thanks Charlie. I got everything all sorted and ready to go. Going to just put all my reds together, except for the damaged one, and all the greys together. I figured the buyers will look it over quick enough and make a fair offer. I do have a couple pieces for the NYSTA donation as well.
Do you think a 7am arrival is too early then?
See you guys Saturday.

Woj,
Based on the amount of help available, 7:00am wouldn't be too early, but you never know. Normally the auction will start when a good amount of fur is checked-in, usually around 8:30 or 9:00 and we are mostly done by 1:30 or 2:00 at the latest.

Great! Thank you. Look forward to meeting a few new faces this weekend. I will be the tall fat ugly guy. Should be easy to pick out with a bunch of trappers

I was happy. Every one of my red fox were damaged so my prices were low on those. Two because of coyotes, one because of me. You live and learn. I was pleased with my greyfox prices.
