I was officially offered a summer job in North Dakota for the US Fish and Wildlife Service, so I will be missing the Rondy again this year. Unless I do not pass the background check, I will be monitoring one of the largest American white pelican nesting colonies in North America, as well as other refuge duties including waterfowl pair counts. What really sucks is the job goes until the end of September so I will miss the state convention as well! On a positive note, this is my final semester of college so I will finally be able to trap at home during the beginning of the season, instead of dealing with leftovers (and frozen ground) when I'm on winter break. I picked up a little car (Chevy Aveo) yesterday for my drive out to the Prairie Pothole region to save money on gas however I am a little skeptical on how trapping and hunting will work once I get back this fall. But I will worry about that when the time draws closer.

Missing the rhondy and the convention wil be a bummer but being home to trap this fall will be great. Congratulations on your job and hopefully it can turn into something permanent.

Sounds like your summer job is right up your alley. Most people work through their summers at jobs that get them by. Your looking at a lifetime of memories and experiences that will shape your future. Excellent planning and you know, there just might be a rondy in North Dakota as well. Different state but the same caliber of great people to hang out with. Best thoughts from a Cobby Alum imlvt

Good luck and make the best of where you are. The duck and pheasant hunting should be awsome.

It's a great opportunity. The more folks you meet in the department the better the chance for permanent employment after school.
Good Luck and Best Wishes.
