I saw this ad in FFG. Why do they have a NE NTA convention in Maryland. That is a long way from the NE in my opinion. The only answer I can think of is all the legislation going on in Maryland opposing trapping. Maybe one of you guys has a legitimate answer.

The reason as I understand it is there were no other sites available for the cost that the NTA was willing to spend for a fairground. The further North they came the more $$$$ it cost them for a site. The location is a real pain to get to for anyone coming from the north. No other way to put it. You either have to go through D.C. and Baltimore or way out of the way to avoid those cities. Last year it was poorly attended. In my opinion it is a fund raiser for the NTA and that's fine but too far for dealers in the northeast to travel for such a sparse turnout. Maybe fewer dealers this year will help some of them make a little better profit to make it worthwhile.

The FTA held their annual convention at Herkimer Fairgrounds one Year and they did ok. It was in conjunction with ours. The NTA in my opion has to come back to their roots. Trappers as a most part dont live ,work, or play in a city. The Nta wants the fanciest hotels with convention centers for there Award cerimonies. Ed

THe NTA has asked NYSTA if they would host the NE Regoinal. I believe western NY was being looked at. If this is something that you want to see happen tell your regional director to push for it. The problem, real or imagained, is the man power from within the state to work such a convention.

Isn't the SRI based out of Maryland? This may be a reason.

sri has nothing to do with the rondies, its held in maryland cause no other state has stepped up to hold it. there is a very strict criteria for what you have to have to hold the event. man power is one big thind and the other is hotel space plus the overall cost of renting the area for the show itself

The NTA has been looking at NY for a NE regional or the National convention. They would like to have the Nationals east of Syracuse. We have asked the Directors to look into possible sites. Buffalo would like to do it, but we cant get anyone out there to organize anything. The NTA said that Herkimer would be a great location for the NE Regional. Is that where we would like to have it, or move to a different location? We need help from our members to find a location. If anyone can find a location let me know so we can start planning. Dave
