Maybe they'll start to understand things now, but I think it'll take a death. The coyote is our friend.

To me the discription of this attact is more proof that the Eastern Coyote has wolf in their genes.

In the video clip, the rep from the state said that the coyote was probably rabid. I don't believe it. If the animals were rabid. they would not be in a pack.
I could be wrong, but when an animal is in the advanced stages of rabies they don't have a normal thought process. That is why they attack or can be unusually friendly.
So how would they be in the rite frame of mind (sort of speak) to organize an attack???
I think that they were hunting as an organized pack.
Just my opinion, I am not a biologist.

I will agree with you on that one Dave. An animal in the advanced stages of rabies will be extremely disoriented and not able to put cognitive thought together. It would wander and stagger and not act naturally as in this case. Seems to me that they were in fact hunting as you say.
