I'm looking into becoming a dealer for Sleepy Creek Traps. Your opinion, whether good or bad, will be very helpful

Sleepy Creek makes a quality trap. I really like the body grippers & the #11 longsprings.
The bigger coilsprings (#4 in particular) make great beaver traps. I believe they now have a #5 Longspring.
For water trapping, Duke 1.5 coilspring is hard to beat in todays market (price mainly).
As for land traps, I think you'll have better luck selling Bridgers.
Although I know of one trapper that swears by the Sleepy 1.75 for canines.

I have used both the 1.5 and 1.75 from Sleepy Creek. Both are good strong traps that need very little tuning from the factory. I have not encountered any problems on the line due to the traps themselves, I have with other brands.
What kind of deals will you be offering?

I almost think you'd be smart to go with a quality trap like Sleepy Creek. Too many others offering only Dukes and cutting prices on each other to the point that there isn't much profit for you. Are you considering other brands too? Like everything else some guys want better quality some are price shopping.

Jim, I have never personally used them myself but if you have an opportunity to carry them it can only increase your business through residual sales looking at it from a marketing standpoint.

Before the summer rondy I'll be a dealer for them . Also discussing the possibility of becoming a distributor here in NY. There are other dealers here but so far there arent any distributors so if I can meet their financial requirements, I'll do it. i'm already a distributor for Duke traps and sales have been great so far but I want to be able to offer some of the higher quality traps. Does anyone know the # or address for Bridger trap Co. ? I havent been able to find it so far. Thanks guys, Jim

Dear jimd, Is there a minimum inventory that you have to keep in order to be a dealer? Do you have to buy a certain amount in order to keep a dealership? Does the company set the price that you have to sell at? What do your local customers buy? Just some thoughts . Good Luck. Ed

On duke traps, there is a 10 doz. minimum buy in until my inventory grows large enough to supply dealers without ordering extra. Sleepy Creek, there is no minimum buy in. On orders over $1500.00 there is no freight so I would like to be able to order large quantities when possible, to keep costs down. There will be no freight costs added to the price if I have the traps already in stock. Being a cheaper trap all around, duke traps sell very fast. My sales on them is still doing good even after the season. Any more questions, feel free to ask.
Jim
