My favorite bait is popple. I shine it up a little for eye appeal. Ed

I agree with mole, popple seems to work well for under ice sets.

I only wish I had enough Ice here to do a little Under Ice beaver trapping. I have used some fresh bait sticks in certain locations( like where they were already feeding) and had some luck. But most of my beaver have been around the block, I most of the time catch the youngsters in Coni's and the older ones in scent mounds. I should probably spend a little more time working with the food lures, but it always seems after a couple of days I'm heading out to the next colony....B....

Dobbins "Woodchipper" food lure is a good one to use in the fall. In spring, use a lure with a lot of castor, and maybe some poplar branches with the bark partially peeled back so the beaver can see them.
