hello again everyone i was wondering what sets, lures and everything else would be best for coyotes and fox sets....... as i said before i have about 3500 private acres to trap on but most of this is forest and brush......there is plenty of meadows and such that we use as food plots for the deer but during trapping season im sure i could use them to trap. i have been scouting a little in the area and there are tons of tracks and alot of sign and such of fox and coyote. Any tips or suggestions will be helpful and appreciated ......pictures are always a plus too (of sets and locations or anything) thanks again. Ted

Ted,I assume when you say dog sets you mean wild canines! It sounds like you are on the rite track. You see a lot of sign, I would set on sign. I have learned that almost all animals follow the same routes, whether it is deer or coyotes. Animals are a lot like humans they take the easy route. They follow drainages, stone walls, hedgerows, ridge lines, cut corners across fields to intersect a point. I would look for any of these features that intersect, the more the better. Look for pinch points, for example beaver ponds near the dams, or man made ponds. I would use a variety of sets, mix them up, a dirt hole, flat set, trash set, through a double or triple dirt-hole set, urine post, your options are many. I would put at least 2 sets in, I prefer 3 to 5 at a location. You can have many locations on this size property. For lure, I like using gland lure of urine, I don't like bait. Brings too much trash (non-target animals). Although the price of skunks are getting to the point that targeting them might be an option. I hope this helps. This is only my opinion you will hear many. Try them all and see what works for you and stick to it. But don't be afraid to try something new and totally different. Dave
