Here's something I do with the safety hooks on my bigger bodygrippers. It takes very little time and puts an end to many problems. I use about 4 inches of #11 guage wire. The smaller wire like #14 doesn't hold up well enough. I try and get two full wraps on each side of hook. This allows you to keep the hooks where you want them and cuts down on them hooking other traps when you store them. I learned this from another post by "the beav" on another site.

Great post Scott, do you find that the hooks get in the way when your trap springs? I always hook mine in diagonally to the spring so they don't catch when the trap fires.

With the hooks rigged up this way I have not had any problems. When you take them off they stay where you put them.
