Can I ask why you took them off for muskrat? just curious Since they are to be used solely for muskrat, there is no logical reason (That I can think of) to have two springs on the trap. The 2nd spring slows you down a lot when setting large numbers of them and provides no added benefit. Fast, simple sets equal more traps set and thus, more muskrats caught. A rat doesn't take a whole lot to kill as a single spring # 110 will do the job very adequately, so having two #160 springs on each trap is way beyond overkill IMO. Since I typically set 100 to 175 rat sets when initially setting up a marsh, That's a lot of unnecessary depressing of #160 springs. My hands are shot from Rheumatoid Arthritis and Carpel Tunnel from years of rowing winter drift boats and years of cold water on my hands while fishing and trapping from November thru April. Hence, The ONE SPRING does the job well for me. walleyed
