so i caught a skunk which unfortunatly sprayed.......so how can i de-smell it without ruining the coloration? i would like to do this before skinning it if at all possible

the smell of skunk will actually bring more animals in if u can stand it

i can stand it i just want the pelt. but i dont want it to stink up my garage, ot also a gag gift for a buddy so i need the smell gone

Cant find it. As usual I think wayne answered my questions for me. I believe it was to soak it in some combination of baking soda, dawn, and peroxide. Maybe he will chime in.

didnt ealize this was already mentioned. i didnt see it tho. but i have checked other sites and alot of people metion the same thing but wont the peroxide affect the black coloring?

1 quart hydrogen peroxide, 1 box baking soda and a squirt of dishwasjing liquid. Soak the critter in it before or after you skin it, but after works better. The solution won't hurt the pelt in the slightest
