Looking through a box in my garage I found a bag of underalls. (they are foam pads for under the pan on your trap.) Anybody ever use them? Do they need to be treated before use? I bought them years ago & never used them.

Never tried them Bob, I would think as long as they weren't contaminated with any food or other strange odors they should be fine as is.

I have never used them but was told they would satifiy the requirement of a pan tensioning device if placed under the pan. That would make an older #1 1/2 jump,or coil, #2 or #3 dbl spring without a post pan, a legal trap on land in NY, when used for coon, fox, or coyote for instance. I was wondering if they would absorb water though. I'd throw them in a bucket of it and see if they'd freeze.

Bob , I believe that underalls are made of fiberglass. The same as housing insulation. If they are what I'm thinking they are, they won't absorb odor and don't need to be treated. I tried them a few seasons ago and they worked fine. On a tip from Tim Wilcox, I have been using pillow stuffing under the pans. Works good and cost very little.

If they are made of foam and they get wet and freeze they would be like rock. I think it was on a Slim Pederson video he anti freezed [excuse that word] them with glycol. and said they worked well. Ed
