OSWEGO COUNTY TRAPPERS ASSOCIATION
A chapter of the new York State Trappers Assoc.
Our meetings are held at the Leatherstocking Club, Rt. 104, New Haven, New York. Coffee is ready at 7:30 PM, Meeting starts at 8 PM. Our meetings For 2006 are, 1/3, 2/7, 3/7, 4/4, 5/2, 6/6, 8/1 9/5, 10/3, and 12/5. The first Tuesday of the month.
Earlier this month we held or annual December dinner meeting at the Episcopal church. The weather was typical, (snowing hard) a great time was had by those that attended, we laughed and talked and had a good time. I would like to thank Barb Dubois for her time every year that she puts into this evening. She does a fantastic job.
There has been a couple fur sales and prices have increased some. Muskrats, beaver, gray Fox ,Fisher have shown some increases. It seemed like a lot of people were pout trapping this year, which is god for our numbers. Hopefully they support trapping, by joining the NTA, NYSTA, and or a local association. I know there are some of our members who don’t belong to the NTA or NYSTA and that’s your choice, but if you are able to join , you get a subscription to an informative magazine form each organization, able to vote on issues and most of all support trapping. There is strength in numbers.
The NTA’s address is, NTA , 24 5th street., Bedford, IN,47421 and the dues are $ 25 a year with a subscription to the American Trapper magazine.
The NYSTA address is, NYSTA, 3594 Black Creek Rd, Cold Brook, New York 13324 and the dues are $20 dollars and you get a subscription to the trapper and predator caller magazine.
It sure has snowed a lot for the month of December already and winter doesn’t officially start until tomorrow. One good thing though, it does melt and we are fortunate compared to other geographical areas.
I’d like to take the opportunity to wish each and everybody a "merry Christmas and a Happy New Year" and to " God Bless our troops at home and abroad" because without there sacrifices through the course of time we would not enjoy the freedoms we have today.
God Bless, and hopefully see everybody at the next meeting.
