Had an intresting thing happen last Friday. I had a mink box baited with beaver meat set about 25 feet from a small creek. It was a 126 BMI which is a 110 size trap with 160 springs. Anyway, we had some mild weather and the coon were moving and one messed with that box and tried to steal the bait, but didn't put it's head in the trap. It apparently was caught by the paw and tore up the area pertty good before pulling out. I had the trap staked down with the factory chain with one of those flat re-rod swivel devices on the end of the chain to a 24" 3/8" re-rod stake. That coon must have been a big one, as he wrapped the chain around a small bush near the stake and managed to bend the chain links near the trap spring nearly 90 degrees.I tried to take a picture but the batteries were low in the camera. I mention it as it shows that you need swivels on the trap springs of those body grips too. You never know what you will catch. Maybe I would have held that coon if I had installed such a swivel on that trap. I always swivel my bigger body-grips at the spring, but never considered it when setting 120's or those 126's. Live and learn Another note to myself for the log book!
