I do watch alot of videos in trapping and try to use some ideas. I just watched the Hal Sullivan canines 2000 video he makes a nest out of grass and using no gloves. Also he puts the grass in the hole w/lure to the left side and urine to the right side. Can the canines smell your hands on that grass if so why wouldn't he use gloves? How careful should you be with coyote and foxs? Can anyone help me thanks.

To each his own John. I lot comes down to confidence. I don't use gloves when I set K-9 traps unless it's cold, and then just to keep my hands warm. I DO however, where gloves when I bait & lure my sets. Not to keep human scent off, but to keep these odors off my traps. Once my traps are clean (Dyed/waxed), I want to keep them that way. If you feel like you need gloves to catch them, then do what you think is best. I have said this quite a few times, you will never convince a fox or coyote that you weren't there, you just need to make him want what you have to offer.

John, I use gloves when handling and setting my gear.
I lure and bait bare handed, these smells are all over my hands so the gloves are for comfort and keeping the lure and bait smells off my gear.
I know some guys who set their traps bare handed and then put gloves on to lure with.
Its all in personal preferance, Oh the canines dont care if you use gloves or not.

John Just for the hell of it, I was curious about whether or not I could catch coyotes with new uncleaned traps and bare handed so last week I took 3 #3 traps from my store washed them in carb cleaner and put them in dirthole and scent post sets. In that week I caught 2 grey fox and one coyote. Maybe its just luck or maybe they really dont care I was there. Its like newt said, it seems to be personal preferance on how clean you want your sets to be.
