Not really, the area where he caught it is good fisher habitat, (hilly, interspersed with evergreen and hardwoods), plus Pennsylvania released fishers in the northwestern part of the the state a few years back I believe. From where it was caught it's a fairly short travel route. Or maybe it just came from the Tug Hill region and was lost

I have not seen fisher here either but agree, it would not suprise me. I hang out alot near Allegany county, and the cover here that Wayne mentions is fisher habitat.

Would not surprise me the least. I bet there's more here than we think.

I totally agree, notice the wink on my first post. I have found them where there isn't supposed to be any as well as pine marten. The only thing that I haven't seen are bobcats and those other trap modifying critters.

I live about 10 miles away from where the fisher was caught on the PA state line. 5 years ago while in my tree stand I thought I saw a fisher. I emphasize thought. After reading about the one in Allegany maybe it was a fisher...........

I have at least one living in the woods behind my house. I've seen it a few time during this past year. Where I live isn't fisher habitat. I have also seen two different road kills near by here.

Iam certain that the DEC has gone on record that the Fisher has been reintroduced in the southerntier.Cant understand any comments by them that they are suprised to see of one in the Olean area, as they are reported to have stated on a post on trapperman.
