I will be trapping this year for the first time and was wondering if a heated shed is a neccesity.I want to have the best furs that I can and I'm not sure if that can only be achieved with a heated space.thanks

Welcome to the Forum and to the world of trapping too! A heated shed isn't necessary to properly dry fur but it sure makes it nicer. The ideal temperature for drying fur is between 55 and 65 degree farenheit with low humidity. You can dry fur at -20 but it will take considerably longer to do so. A heated fur shed really shines when it comes to skinning & fleshing your critters more so than drying them in my opinion, as I don't like numb fingers. Proper air circulation is also helpful and I always have a fan running in my shed while I have furs drying.

I didnt use a heated shed my first two years. As wayne said, skinning can be a bit of a chore! Its possible to do though, I did it for two years!
