today i read in fur fish and game about a set that only used a 1 1/2 and a empty soda can. just dig a hole the size of a can in a bank approximately 5 inches above water level. make sure the can fits tight and u fill in any cracks around it. stick some lure and fish oil in the can and place the trap under neath the water 3 inches or so from the can and then stake it behind the trap. the coon will be attracted to the can and will work at the can to try to get the lure out and hopefully its foot will hit the pan.
srry that i couldnt find any pictures- its a pretty unique trap. just look in fur fish and game

I use a can of mackerel just slightly opened for these sets, and yes I do make sure to remove it when I pull the set. I keep a bucket in my trap box on the back of the ATV and all the trash I find, weather it's mine or not, goes home with me!!! It's amazing to see how much I collect over the course of a season. "Leave it better than you found it" My old man always said. Keeps land owners happy, and makes me feel better for doing so.

try using the golf ball set drill 2 holes in it one for lure and one to hold it in the bank with a long nail or green stick works good on the coon

instead of a soda can you can also use a piece of 1 1/2 or 2 " pvc pipe 12 " long stick that in the bank & use over again the next year.fill with a blue gill or any type of fish bait .

I remember when I was a kid and use to get the FC Taylor catalog. They use to have tin fish that had little tabs to bend them around your pan.

fill cans with small minnows or smelt and freeze they dont get everything so messy this way. You can set like pocket set as stated above or hang in trees near predator sets as call stations. when sun beats on can fish thaw and start to stink. Picked this up from Johnny Thorpe. works well.

I fill my PVC pipe with sardines. works great on coon. catch a lot of greys in it too.
