With this recent streak of warm weather I have noticed a large number of skunk tracks ( got on the other day). Were is the best place to shoot them so they don't spray?

A .22 short in the lungs is your best bet at not having them spray, but even that isn't foolproof. Don't shot them in the head though, they always spray with anhead shot.

If the skunk is caught in a canine set, I want them to spray. I will shoot them in the head and reset with the same trap. A canine catch is sure to follow.

I dont worry about it.I shoot the skunk in the head and leave it until the next day.You can now skin the skunk without getting the smell on you.Wnen you remake the set becareful when you dig and remake the set,if you are directly over it that is when you will get the smell on you. All though the smell of skunk is loud,I think the smell of coyotes stinks worse. They have a pissy type smell.

A friend told me. If you take a pail of gasoline and dunk the skunk in it a few times and let hang to dry it will get rid of the smell. Of course it will take a few skunks to pay for the gas. I have not personally tried this but they say it works. let me know if it does. Dave
