What is the average time it should take to dry a yote?

It really depends on the temperature, moisture content, etc etc of the area you are drying them in. We leave our on the stretchers (wooden adjustable) for roughly a week. they sometimes stay on longer, as the pelts are easily removed from the adjustables. I usually check on both sides of the base of the tail and on the underside of the back for dryness.. I have removed them then put them back on because they didn't feel dry enough. The more you do, the easier it will be to gauge them. With red fox, I just shake them, if they sound like paper, they're done...

Thanks for the response. I have a yote that is still kind of wet by the base of the tail, so I was wondering if I did something wrong fleshing. I guess not, just need to let it dry a few more days.

BTW, what do you use for getting the stink out of yotes? I shampoo mine, but they still smell!

I just comb them really good to fluff the fur up and clean all the burs out. Regarding the stink, thats just the fur shed aroma..... I just don't have the extra time to wash them and wait for them to dry.
