We just had 2 or 3 mountain lions w/collars dropped in our area from the DEC. But they will not admit it at all. Do they have a loud scream like a animal that is being killed, like a rabbit? (but much much louder) We heard a loud scream type pitch which made the hair on your neck stand up. We have deer hunters here and some said that they saw this animal. There was one hit by a vehicle with a collar the police call the DEC. They came out in flash. Never made the paper, the news, nothing why is this a big secret?

Not saying that you are wrong but the DEC would have to have a public record of expendature for something on that order and to date that hasn't ever been proved. Also, there is no reason for them to release Mt. Lions anywhere in the state., espicially in Central NY. I would have to belive that they would release bobcats or lynx before Mt. Lions too.

The only animal that i know of that will scream is a bobcat. I know when they are mating they sound like a woman being raped. There has always been rumors that DEC released the big cats as long as I could remember.I believe that we have had a small population for years. I would like to catch one in my trap. I personally have never seen one. I like to always have a camera with me, just to take those once in a lifetime pictures. Dave

I would have to see it to believe it. But I also don't have much faith in the DEC on their honesty. This is just my opinion! I have hunted, fished and just recenly started trapping in the adirondacks for 15 years or so.. and have never seen a mountaion lion. I have heard bobcats screach and it is an awful sound to say the least. I guess I'd just have to see it to believe it!
