Fish are beginning to make their way into the Salmon River now, rumor has it that the main run is going to be later this year due to low water levels & higher water temperatures. The Estuary usually holds fish this time of year. Perfect for small boat. Might have an empty seat if any of you are looking to go!?

Fished Estuary of the Salmon River today with my 10yr old niece. We hooked several fish and landed a couple nice ones. My niece manage to catch a 20lb Chinook Salmon!!!! It was really cool seeing her battle that fish!! The fish are stacked up like chordwood all the way into the DSR. There is fish in the river now and the popular holes all had people fishing all the way to Altmar! The Rt. 3 Bridge had people evrywhere from shore on the water and up on the bridge! It was insane it looked like there was a carnival going on! Guys were trolling out on the lake in shallower water; Lots & Lots of boats just off shore trolling!

Fished the Mouth of the Salmon River this morning with a friend of mine. It will be my last trip of the season. Bowhunting opens tommorow and there are some tags to be filled; Plus trapping season is just around the corner!!! Fish are still filtering in from the Lake into the river. Word has it that the Majority of Fish are holding in the upper section of the river; DSR, Staircase, Black Hole Ect. In my opinion catching em' on egg Sacs in the mouth of the river is the best! Out on the Lake the trolling boat hardly ever stops & one is usually fighting part of the rig or just holding on while the boat drags the fish to exhaustion. In the river the fish are wore out and don't always make good runs & if they do it's often a goner. But at the mouth they fight hard and free!! The fishing was So-So today. Guess there was a real good run yesterday. Action was slow today but steady. Caught this monster in the morning; great way to end a great year!!!

I know what you are saying vivlamored; I'm not a big salmon eating fan either; No matter where they're caught or what time of year...But there is alot of folks out there that like it! I've never had any trouble getting rid of fillets. Catch & Release is often very difficult because the fish give everything they have in their fight from being landed!!! I wish I knew how to can them, My mother used to make salmon patties with canned salmon from Lake Ontario & Tributaries; it was really good! Does anyone know how to do it???
