I got into the woods about 10:00 to do some goose hunting on the Delaware. I found 3 sets of hip waders lying in some brush, with the tags still on. I think they were washed down stream during the last flood except for being a little muddy they seemed to be in good shape. No goose all day so I got up a few times to look for squirrel. Unfortunately the few I did see, saw me and took off into the brush. On one of these trips, I ran into a black bear cub coming down the trail the opposite way. It looked about 80-90 lbs., kind of like a big Rottweiler. I did not see its mother and did not want to, so I picked a likely looking stump off the trail and unloaded some #6 shot into it. The bear took off running when the gun was fired.
