This fall is going to be my first season trapping. I’ve been hunting for almost 40 years and been blessed to hunt all across the United States and Canada and have spent a lot of time in the woods. I’m hoping my some of my experience will carry over. And hopefully shorten the learning curve a little. However I still know very little about trapping. And I am a stickler about doing things the right way. Bothe legally and ethically. I’ve been studying the manual and had Dec send me multiple copies of work sheets to do and watched god knows how many hours of video and still want to learn more . And real experience is the best teacher. I’m looking for any help I can get. It doesn’t even have to be a mentorship if no one wants to just some pointers or advice. I’ve tried reaching out in other forums and social media groups and mum is the word.

Hopefully someone from your area will reach out. In the meantime if you haven't taken your trapping course yet do that, and don't opt for the online version (if still being offered) you'll learn much more in the hands on course.
Attend conventions and the demos at those, stop and chat to vendors, etc. Narrow down what you want to trap in your first season and concentrate on them, don't try to trap everything. Join your local trapping club, you can easily get mentorship there.
