Hi everyone, just joined the forum and im tickled to be here. I dont know if its possible, but i am trying to develop a rub lure that would cause coyotes to rub like a bobcat rubs on objects, projections, ect. My thinking is this: we all know coyotes and dogs like to roll in various smelly substances like carrion. But if you were to place that smelly substance on say a projection some 12 to 14 inches off the ground, could you ( with the right concocted lure) get them to want to wear it and thus rub on the said projection. The whole idea would be to keep them longer at a projection set and to get more foot movement?

Little update on my lure development.I believe, by my nose, that I have improved my first lure formula and am going to set up a projection on my one logging road where I know coyotes travel. I will set up a trail camera on video overlooking the projection with of coarse the lure smeared on the end of it. The coyotes should start traveling this roadway once the does start dropping fawns, if not before. This will be a fun project even if I dont ever get the results Im looking for.

Sorry just seen this , by Simple , Coyotes do not like just rubbing on an object like domestic 'Cats do , they are not 'Cats , 'Cats behavior is to Rub on you / me (domestic) 'Cats , Wild Cats , are not domestic 'Cats or feral 'Cats , and they have different genus names , do Wild 'Cats behave like domestic 'Cats ?? No they do not by their genus names , Survival , are on their mind , they are different by their scientific names .
Coyotes are who they are , Canines , I have Never seen a Canine rub on you or me , unless infested with Mange , fleas and usually they roll or scratch like mad, it is not the Canine behavioral instincts , to Rub on anything , scratching their backs or sides , yes if infested with Mange or fleas , but not in response to an Animal Attractor . You are mixing 'Cats with Canine behavior , that is a wrong approach . IMHO
