I have a great friend who makes a living as a horse ferrier. Asked him to get me a shopping bag full of trimmings. I tried to chop them right away but they are incredibly hard, so.... I have them soaking in 100 proof vodka for now.
Any ideas what to do next, add to them, length of time in solution, etc...
Any experience with this??

I did a little reading up on years ago,If I remember right you want the soft part of the hoof they clean or trim out possibly called the frog?? I might be way of base but I do know from Experience that the soft part is very rugged smelling to start with...that's about all my foot wisdom....not sure if they actually use the hoof or not?? Good luck Charlie
