I have had no time to prepare for the season but I do have BIG PLANS if that counts for anything.

I am all set just need some fresh fox urine at Herkimer! I just ordered red urine from Grawe's... along with some other lure ingredients for canines that aren't available anywhere else. Got three lures for cross species... early-season mild food, louder all season food-curiosity and a gland-base blend. No deer-related musks ingredients of any kind, cuts down on the deer snaps greatly. Everything I concoct makes canines dig hard, too

All my traps are ready to go, bait made, lures bought, license bought. Sure I forgot something but for the most part I'm ready. Good luck to all.

Might want to check around Von's general area, word has it he's focused on chasing coon with those squirrel mutts of his, plenty of canines to be had around his house I hear tell.

Not long at all Austin! say, since I caught my first coyotes ever last winter would it be ok if I start referring to myself as an "Eastern Wolfer"

definitely... welcome to the brotherhood <lol>
back in the early 1990s before ANY books or VHS tapes existed for eastern coyote trapping, we thought a dozen or two coyotes per season was something remarkable. But then again, fox catches of 100+ to 200+ part-time effort were common, too. Times have changed.

Von, is that side from the legendary Fawkowi tribe? <lol> everyone's seeing a lot of fox around, unfortunately that includes roadkills too but for now the reds are everywhere. Hopefully they are still out there when first of November rolls around

50 rats and 1 beaver last year on my 50th birthday spent along the waterline. Word has it that Von hits a milestone like that real soon, too. Heck... at this rate, I cannot wait to run my line the day I turn 100!

Well this is my first year actually dying and waxing, having fun fooling around doing that, almost as enjoyable as making syrup each spring... have been getting around scouting some areas and setting up baits and trailcams with kids to see whats around. Went to the NTA for a few days and plan on bringing the entire family to herkimer and lastly stopping out to zerbie. I didnt realize how much "stuff" it took to put up one owns fur, going to do thay this year also for the first time. Good year to do so i suppose.

All my traps were dyed and waxed last Tuesday. Going scouting in the ADKs on Wednesday at a friends 300 acre "deer camp." If I like what I see I have the last week of October off and will trap there for the week. I trap in the suburbs, so the big woods is a bit intimidating. I don't expect to catch much in the ADK's but I'd like to give it a try. Either way, I want to put more traps in the ground this year than ever before. Pumped.
