Not sure, how about an Olympic* or other brand wood stain? I don't know how it'd be for use on a basket, or if it'd be safe to have in contact with her. Might even rub off.

RIT brand fabric dye has a pink color, should work. Can be found at Walmart, grocery stores, hardware and pharmacy's in the laundry isle.
Its water based you will definitely have to seal it.

Probably a lil more expensive but hydro dip may be a option in like that muddy girl camo or something...there's a guy in Dansville that does it he dipped my 8pt skull....may hold up better also as a keepsake down the road....my 5 yr old son used my first basket his first season and I'll get him a new one this year and pass that to him for his son

Red , you should be able to take the color you want to Lowes or Homedepot and they should match it up or come real close.

Using the RIT and then sealing it is probably the best suggestion; and as far as consistency goes, as long as you're using stain on wood you're going to have some inconsistencies because of differences in grain and absorption of the stain. But that just may give you that camo effect, eh? Good luck, and to be frank I think that little sweetheart will be delighted with the results of anything she knows her Daddy made just for her.

Any big store like lowes, home depot should be able to make a custom stain to your liking , we had a painter back in the late 80s that could make a stain to any color you wanted, pink might be hard bu4 ask and they should be able to make something,

I've used RIT Dye on wood. I make duck calls and did 3 custom calls for a breast cancer awareness fundraiser. RIT dye with a little extra salt than they call for. Let it soak overnight and dry thoroughly before polyurethane

This looks fairly inexpensive, easy to use and control the color. Right down the alley for a do-it-yourselfer. Here's the website for the company Keda Dye - Good luck
