Started doing Black Fly control and this past week I have seen three double sets of fisher tracks. One large and one smaller. Is it common for two of different sizes to be running together or could one be hunting the other. ? Thanks Ed

its mating season for fisher now... they give birth and mate all within a fairly short window of time in the spring, they have that 10 month delayed egg fertilization deal, mate now become actively pregnant later on.. or for next year/spring... jim

Yesterday as I was checking the maple lines that I hadn't done yet this season, I was blown away at the numbers of fisher tracks, most of them doubled like you saw, mole. I know, they weren't from all at once but over the course of days to maybe a week, but I still never saw anything like it here. At least two places there was a - well, let's just say a scuffle, where it appeared that a receptive female responded to an eager male. More fisher, yay! Oh wait, we still don't know how many of those we'll get to harvest, do we?

They're like the plague here in Otsego/Chenango county...even with the pressure from the houndsmen the last couple years.
