Thanks silentnight.
My dog holds his own pretty well and is quick on his feet. I've never had any serious issues with coyotes other than the dog having some small scratches/cuts. Cats are a different story but I'm so close behind him when he's tracking I can call him off before things get out of hand.

Have any of you guy's ever had a coyote tear your dog up? I keep a basic dog first aid kit in my hunting vest and a pretty thorough kit in my truck. I've had to use it several times, more so for the bird dog though! lol I run coyotes with foxhounds, and none of them have any fears of a coyote. They get bites and some good gashes at times. All I cary is some rags, a roll of duct tape and pennicillan.

One thing that I won't leave the house without when running the dog is that clotting powder. That stuff works great and fast on torn up ears!

Ive used a bloodhound on my trapline for about 10yrs, it makes locating a coyote on a drag almost boring.

Week one update:
Eve is making fare progress with basic comands. In a weeks time she recognizes her name as well as the comands here, sit & starting to work on stay. She has only had 2 accidents indoors. Each day she comes out of her shell a bit more and exhibits a strong desire to please.
