I am looking to speed dip my traps in the coming summer. My first question is should I use Coleman lantern fuel or gas. My second question is how many traps will a quart container mixed with fuel dip. I plan on dipping long springs (1-1 1/2) and some coil springs (1 1/2 - 2). My third question is will this product protect traps against anti freeze chemicals that destroy traps. Any advice is appreciated. Thanks in advance.

There was a thread on here a while back about using Rustoleum Paint and some paint thinners. Nightstalker posted it. Don't have the exact ingredients right in front of me, but in sure someone will chime in. I used the mixture with super results!!!!

If you use Andys dip I mix with gas with good results, I dont use it on land traps just water traps and I have no complaints. I dipped some dog proofs and was very disappointed and had to remove it with gas. I have never tried the colman fuel or the rustoleum dip.

I use speed dip all the time. I use it on all my canine traps. Works great mixed with Coleman fuel. I would not use gas myself because it has an ethanal warning on the label. I mix the whole quart and the whole gallon of fuel. When I am done with it I use a funnel and pour it back in the fuel can. I have reused it many times with good results. I know there are alot of guys that boil and that's fine but I am not going to fix what ain't broke. Last year I made a post stating that I dipped my traps during the season and got scolded a little because they said that they would not cure fast enough because it was too cold out. They were right, they didn't cure enough but I put them in the ground a little sticky. Ya know what, I still caught fox. I use peat and wax dirt so I don't have as much wearing on the traps as those who use salt. Just my experiance and my 2cents.

I used Coleman fuel, if you go with gasoline use the non-ethanol only. But from now on I think I'm going the Rustoleum route.
