I was thinking about staking my dps using rebar. What size should I use, half or three quarter? Was going cut them to 18''.

If you are trapping coon with DP's a single 1/2" x 16"-18" re-bar stake should be plenty to hold them. It sometimes seems that a big boar coon can pull a boulder up a mountain, but I have caught and held hundreds of them with a single 16" re-bar stake. As long as they can't pull up on the stake you will be fine. Now, a big stink dog can jump/pump a single stake out, always double stake any set that may hook up on a coyote. And 18" should be the minimum stake length when a yote is a possibility, and 24" would be better.
I also like at least 3 swivel points on all my leg hold traps. I feel the swivels are more important than the stakes.
Just my $.02.
