For baits, anise, mint tooth paste, mint skoal, when you need a fresh one, marschano cherries in sauce ground, apples , parsnips, ditch digger by nite owl, or anything sweet, find runs set 110 or 160s, bank dens set openings 110, cubbies with sweat baits in the back, set stop loss in front of hole, the list goes on, there will be demo on saturday on rats at zerbie, search the archives in past posts on floats and other sets, also there are dvds and books to help, baits can be cheap if made your self but some dealers have good lures , in the spring you need baits with glands to help call in the rats and floats are better in the spring than fall., hope this helps.

Set your foot holds on feed beds if there are any. will look like floating vegetation rafts. also look for droppings on logs rocks . make sure you have enough water to drown rats. even with stop loss traps.

Yes I'm in ny and it is a reg cage trap.one door with a pan trigger.I just figured if muskrats go into a colony trap why won't they go in a reg cage trap? I have a few so I guess I'll try them out this year for a few bank sets.

You'll connect with any and all of them. Use what you've got, they'll work fine. We caught muskrats in everything you've mentioned, no reason to doubt you will, too. Here's wishing you a great season!
