I'm not opposed to crossguns... never have been. If someone wants to carry a single-shot stringed rifle that fires bolts, have at it

I'm not opposed to carrying a crossbow/gun myself, but not this year. Maybe someday Food vendor next year is too far away to plan. I'm more focused on the near-term for now

Don't worry Austin, I'll Buy a Couple Hoffman Hot Dogs with everything, Some Gianelli Sausage Sandwiches, A Hot Beef on Wick, and some Fried Dough from Your Greasy Spoon at The NTA Convention In Hamburg N.Y. July 28th thru August 2nd, 2015. BTW, will you be serving Sasparilla, Soda, Or "POP" at your food cart ? walleyed

Austin,
Perhaps we could do a joint venture at the NTA? Call up bruce...... get some real BBQ going? We could name the dishes after famous NY trappers, only server card holding members and lastly.......... require them to prove they don't belong to the NY bowhunters!!!!!

lol @ walleyed... you couldn't be further away from what I have in mind. BTW... don't knock those hotdog carts. Although I have no interest in one, I know a guy who runs two of them seasonally nearby and makes more money in one summer than you do in five. So careful how haughty you get towards others out there, my good man

Austin, Perhaps we could do a joint venture at the NTA? if you want to do some prep work like cutting up stuff, changing the gray water and things like that I'd sure appreciate the help. Otherwise, my team will have the food service processing well in hand. cooking to me is not work, it is recreation. Three things in life I would and often have done for free: hunting, trapping and cooking large meals

I was just saying if you are going to have a food concession at Hamburg, I would be your best customer. Maybe you could get a Mini-Dinosaur Barbeque franchise up and running for hamburg as well as the Regional Food favorites mentioned in my preceding post. walleyed

Mac,
You won't be calling me a wussie when I'm sitting in my heated deer tower, dressed head to toe in Under Armour, face paint applied holding my $2,000 cross bow!

I don't know if the right description is "Big"... certainly not from day one, but over time hopefully. For years now I've thought about what else could be done for the trapping industry to further our cause, and also what (if anything) I might be able to do as part of that process. Every time I see a fund-raising venture my first thoughts are how it could be incorporated into the trapping world. Lately I've thought about writing magazine articles or a compilation book, or youtube video clips, or some combination of all that too. What I have in mind is an independent program designed to raise funds from a number of different directions and funnel the vast majority (80% or better) directly to trapper education and trapping promotional programs. In a nutshell I'm going to work for raising funds, supporting programs that exist right now such as the youth trappers camps and trapper booths at fairs, outdoor shows, etc. Also new programs similar to those and expansions of those. I have a lot of ideas and concepts, but as with anything else in life you start with step one and grow from there. Above all else my biggest passion in life involves trapping, working with trappers and the great outdoors. So now it's time to roll up my sleeves and get proactive

. What I have in mind is an independent program designed to raise funds from a number of different directions and funnel the vast majority (80% or better) directly to trapper education and trapping promotional programs. NY trappers reality TV show? Maybe I'm just confused... I'd like to see an expansion of the youth trapping camps nationwide. Booths and/or tables set up at local and state fairs, farm shows, outdoor shows as many do now, but perhaps enhanced features such as impromptu demos of DP traps for coon, basic coyote trapping tactics, etc Perhaps more two-day trapper events similar to Fenner, Olsen days in Maine, etc where a solid lineup of demo instructors attract crowds of attendees. Let's say the demos are recorded with high quality video cameras from different angles, and those recordings get edited down and marketed as DVDs. Proceeds of the DVD sales go back into the organizations while presenters get much greater exposure to the masses over time from DVD distribution. Guys with products to sell would find that greatly appealing, instead of doing a one-hour demo at some show and that's it for exposure, the same one-hour demo would have exponential lifespan over time. Perhaps more dinner banquets geared towards outdoorsmen/women in general rather than just trapper specific. imo the key to banquet success is balancing it with a mix of appeal for women and men. If the silent auction prizes and raffle drawings are things women would like or would like to give their men, results go way up. Perhaps some summertime pig roast / clambake events put on in conjunction with local fire departments. Food and music all day for one ticket price, let the firemen and local police manage the crowd, split net proceeds 50/50 between fire dept and organization. I have in mind a multi-faceted fund raising organization that is not bogged down or encumbered by committee or board or council or anything else that requires multiple meetings and votes and endless amounts of time to decide upon.

Austin,
I just had a brainstorm....... how about a NY crossbow hunters club, when we storm the woods Nov. 1, prime rut time, NY will never be the same!
PS.... I would love to see a video of you using them guns to cock a cross bow un assisted!
