I purchased two floating sets while at the Nysta convention this year. They are made out of 2x4's and have two mesh perches on each side and a center platform. I can only attach the sets to a fixed raised dock. The dock has two steel poles that are anchored. The max dept is 8ft. The bulkhead is cement with limited ability to attach anything to it. The water dept at the bulkhead is 3 inches. The water is open and very public. Access to the dock is private from land, by boat anyone can get to it. Questions are:
1) Any preference to attaching the float to the poles so the float doesn't move freely? 2) Would the rats prefere to jump on the float if under the dock instead of being open? 3) My traps are marked with my ID. Should the float itself be marked with ID? 4) Would attached reeds and other vegatation play any significant role in getting the rats to the set?
Thanks

The float could be wired ,or tied with rope to the pillers. If its under the cover of the dock its all the better. I like to pile see weed on top with 2 inviting crawl on spots for traps. ID is not needed on the float. I use ,apple, carrot, turnip, and parshnip as bait. Foam earplugs and mcl 100 as lure and eye appeal.
