Well heres an idea for ya...Take a trap out in your yard and make a set and see how much dirt ya need to bed and cover your set...now take that amount of dirt and times it by how many sets you plan to run...add in remakes and redoing mud pits and you should come up with the exact amount of dry dirt needed for your season...

Redneck, I use a rough of 2lbs ( a big coffe can) per set . Ido not mix peat with my dirt, I use waxed dirt. 6...20gal totes. Fill the totes 90% full and put the lid on loose so the dirt can breath. That is my routine. Hope I helped bmt

I have about 10 totes ready to go before season.. Mix dirt and peat together.. Been leaning more on the peat each year. May go straight peat this year.. If you run out, you can always get another bag of peat at Home Depot...

I use straight peatmoss. but when you buy it bring it home take it out of the bag lay it out on plywood or something else let sit in sun to dry then i place in plastic 55 gal drum. take from there as needed. i carry 2 gal plastic coffee containers for set making. it takes a little getting use to beding your trap, but after a couple there should be no problems...hope this helps....

Couple weeks ago we had a nice dry spell for a week. What I do is buy top soil once the bags go on sale for $1.50 - 2.00. Lay out tarps on my lawn in full sun, spread the soil out thin and let it dry. I do the same with peat moss. I store everything in galvanized garbage cans. My dry dirt usually lasts until winter conditions come in when I go to straight peat. Also my dirt is usually 4 parts dirt to one part peat.

Best advice. Make what you think is plenty, then double it. It won't go bad. You can't predict weather or success. It would be sad to be rolling good and run short. After opening day all you want to be doing is setting and maintaining your line. Make a drying bed for dirt, works for making waxed also. Imagine a plywood sheet base with a 2x4 or 2x6 walls around it. Then have a removable plexiglass top , which functions as a drying lens.
