Well the fur wouldn't sell for much and either I'm tired of losing chickens.

sounds like you might better spend that time securing your chicken coop or pen. one fox gone won't be the end of that problem... if chickens are exposed, plenty of other critters will come along to pick them off

I thought the question was in regards to whether the fox could be killed for killing his chickens and if so, could said fox be mounted.. Legally.. Not on chicken coop building and maintenance to make it predator proof. Or if it is "worth it" to mount it.. Call your local DEC officer and ask. I am not sure of the answer. I am pretty sure you can kill the fox for killing what would be considered your property. Not sure on having it mounted.

the answer is simple: can kill depredatory fox, cannot keep or use any part of it. Must be buried or disposed of. I assumed that question was answered.
now as for shoring up the chicken pen, that suggestion stands firm. if one fox can get in, every fox - coon - possum - skunk - mink - weasel around can readily do the same

universal law in NY and most other places: any animal out of season CANNOT be kept or used (without special permits) at any time by any average person. Repeat... wild fish or game or protected species cannot be possessed by you, me or anyone else outside of open regulated seasons
animals damaging property and livestock can be destroyed under certain conditions. You can kill a fox in the chicken pen, and dispose of properly. if a bald eagle is eating your chickens, that is a different story
