I was at a trapping course with my son this passed weekend, and the instructor told us that there is going to be a 21day bobcat season in the southerntier this fall. Has anyone herd for sure?

That would be nice! I heard that it was going to be open from the start of the southern zone land trapping season until opening day of the southern zone firearms deer hunting season. That is what I heard about 2 months ago but I haven't seen it anywhere official yet.

you can find the information here www.dec.ny.gov/animals/9360.html click on this half way down the page- Summary of and Responses to Public Comments on the Draft Bobcat Management Plan, May 2012 (PDF, 445 KB) while we may not agree completely it's a start. hopefully when it is realized just how large the population is in the southern zone they can expand the season. to bad it will be five years from now.
