It looks like a Milermore. They walk along beaches, stick their beak in the sand, whistle through their butts----- and you can hear them for a mile, or more!

Mole, Me being a curious sort, I am wondering if this picture came out of the Adirondacks or were you travelling? I wasn't aware chuckers were in the 'Dacks. Course, I also did not know fisher were moving into the Allegany Plateau either, but it looks like they have made this a home now.

I grew up in Theresa, just a bit south of you. I am now wondering if global warming, wierd weather migration or avian hitch hiking is involved? Could he be an escapee from one of the shooting preserves in St Lawrence? I saw a bobwhite here in western NY a long time ago and they sure don't normally live here. Thanks for the reply. Best thoughts imlvt
