A 2,000 mile round trip and the Flatiron Mountain Curs are home to rest. Great time and even got some sunburn only to return home to cold and snow.
The crew brought home most of the heavy hardware. Results --Flatiron Annie ---best of show on an 11 month old pup. Flatiron Tinker----- best champion of champions and second place in coon hunt. Flatiron Fudd---- 3rd place in coon hunt and 8 th place in squirrel hunt which earned the old man the most prestigious trophy of the hunt.the combination dog . Now for some rest and regroup for the Northeast hunt on April 27.

Von, one of the fun games I have always played with my springers is to take a dead bird or small mammal into their kennel run and let them sniff it over. They always get excited over that.
So I think it'd be a hoot to play a trick on your curs: some night I'll dress up in hooded sweats with a facemask, and I'll stuff a fresh coon hide down the front to cover my smell. Then I'll sneak into your kennel run out there and get your dogs all excited.
I bet that would be fun. If you hear a little commotion out in the back yard late some night, that'll probably be just me fussing with your dogs on my way to pick up Holly from work.

How are the curs on skunk? Can they match and stay with the walkers? It amazes me that those poor little squirrel mutts can smell anything at all, what with living quarters inside the flatiron shed with that loose jar of skunk pods fermenting there. I was there two hours last month and my sweatshirt smelled like the south end of a northwards skunk for about three washings later. Half a miracle that their noses aren't burnt out and dead olfactory systems yet.
