I'm not a rookie trapper but am a rookie for local auctions, so would you veterans out there answer this for me and other "rookies" whether they be new to trapping or, like me, just new to the nowadays auction scene? I figure I'll be going to the Herkimer auction tomorrow. Doors open at 6AM, as I recall. At the VFW? And what's the latest I can get there to get my puny lot of fur checked in? And, need I stay there all day or until the fur sells, or --? Need to be a member of any associations, and if so, what proof is required to bring, or --?? I am not familiar with the process. Feels pretty embarrassing to ask after all these years but I don't know what I don't know, plain and simple. Everything's new until after the first time, I suppose. I'm sure it's all straightforward and simple. The doctor that's handling my case will be away next week, so she's scheduled me for a 9:00 appointment with a follow-up at therapy in the afternoon. I figure I can change that around to accomodate the auction (got my priorities straight this time, maybe? . So, that's the reason for asking that part. I'd prefer to stay and hang around and get to know the guys that show up, and also need to buy some 110's if trade is allowed. Thanks in advance. - Tim

Not sure how this year will be, but last spring was my first time, I got there at 6:10 am and I was the 63rd person to sign in, my fur checked in at noon, and sold at 7pm. It can be a long day, you don't have to stay, but it's nice to see you fur go and you can sell or no sale. But over all it was a great time. It's only five or ten to join, last year commission was only 7 present. Hope this helps, good luck
