3rd black rat this week. This is a good side by side comparison of today's black rat and a standard color rat. His entire body is black all the way around. Might keep this one for myself. Attachments:

A small section of a stream I used to trap only had black rats. I haven't trapped there in awhile.

Thanks everyone. I'm gonna keep the black one for myself. Just can't bring myself to board this one. Got to see a beautiful mounted muskrat the other day at my taxidermists and I think having such a nice furred black rat would make an awesome addition to my small game mounts.

The best way to make a dollar on them black ones is to sell them to a taxidermist.I have sold a few to a guy,he pays more than you would get for just the hide.Used to be those black ones weren't worth as much as a regular one.They usually tend to be bigger bodied too...
