Went thru 2 of the cheap $20 PVC style homemade jobby's before I came to the conclusion they just werent worth it...like most everything you get what you pay for...eventually we just broke down and spent the buck on the Ketch-All , aluminum style....For sure worth the extra Bucks...IMO

Ketch-All Pole Animal Release Sticks the only way to go. Do they have the vinyl clad cable ? Also what size length would be the best to have.I still use the PVC but eventually will upgrade.

I use length of pipe 4 or 5 ft and a couple of V belts taped to gather for length. Tape to out side of pipe then up through pipe. Real easy on the critter and they are to tough to chew through easily.I've had mine over 30 yrs

I own the 4' model. Main reason I got the short one is my truck only has a 4 1/2' box. Best catch pole you can buy. Can get a little hairy when you have a big tom cat on the end of a 12' chain, but it feels good to get the blood pumping. ;D ;D

Don't go cheap. You will regret it sooner or later. The Ketch all poles are the best

5' galvanized electrical conduit, 5/16 vinyl coated cable and you are good to go. Released 3 fisher that wanted a piece of me this year with no incident.

No disrespect to those who make their own, I had one once too. Do yourself a favor and buy a Ketch- All. The old adage quality only cost you once. When handling large coon, bobcats, fisher, aggressive critters etc. the lock mechanism on the catch all allows you to cinch up and pin pole into your beltline and use two hands to release the animal from trap. The bite guard protects the critters teeth and the coated cable is easier on them then uncoated. You establish control and eliminate error that can put you in harms way of tooth, fang and claw. Very handy when dispatching bobcats quick and effective. You can cinch 'em up, remove from trap and put cat off to side while resetting.
