i notice that the "fur out" critters get tumbled at some point while at NAFA (as per the .75 fee for each which i have no issue with) my question is, at what point in the process does this take place? IE: before grading?, after grading but before auction?, or after auction? i ask based on the fact that i put alot of effort into washing and tumbling during put up and based on answers, potentially may be un-necessary; also i would have to assume they are re-hydrating (possibly wet tanning) prior to tumbling or it would run the risk of damaging air dried fur, im still "learning" to navigate the NAFA web site (alot of awesome info on there) and have been extremely pleased with the whole experience thus far ;D(especially since a local buyer tried buying my fur for about 1/4 of the price i got at NAFA, not bashing just stating and wont mention names), while im at it did anyone else have issues with the video feed during the auctions? (audio was great but video wouldnt load and very well could just be my lack of puter savvy!! ) thanks, and as always look i forward to your replies!!!

I'd like to answer your question but I don't know the answer for sure.
I think they are graded after they are ticketed with bar-codes and drummed but I've never heard conclusively what the actual order is one way or the other.
Don't think they do anything else besides drum them though.
I believe you can opt out of having them drummed if you have already had done it yourself.
I always wondered if sometimes my pelts got damaged or ripped during drumming after being shipped in perfectly intact condition, and then grading damaged or badly damaged but they sometimes grade a rubbed or Badly tick bitten pelt as damaged so who knows.

I know they make a lot of money from the volume of long haired furs that they drum for each sale

The one I saw was a big plastic tube what do you think phil, 15 20 feet long. Through the fur in one end and it comes out the other. Fur is ticketed, drummed than graded. As far as the video on the auction feed there isnt much to see. It just shows the current lot number being auctioned.
