If you are looking to push the old muskratometer over 200 you are going to have to work around the pain and stiffness cause the rats I have skinned had glands as full as I have ever seen which means biting season is upon us.If I was closer I would be glad to help you out but that is a long commute from Fulton Co.Best of luck in healing and rat trapping.

with temps forecast in the 20s ahead, it'll be awhile before they get that badly damaged.
rats with two belly holes in them now are worth more than the clearest prime specimens were just a few years ago

Dear Friend, oh ye of little faith, thou hath under estimated the wrath of Fur-i-caine Walleyed! Tho no longer driven by the Silverado Winds fear Ye not for the brave muskrateer Mr. Walleyed will prevail and not be denied a vessel to fulfil his plunder of wetland critters with devices and methods of mass muskrat and beaver destruction, as he tallies forth in his marshland massacre. Regards

To Quote Samuel Langhorne Clemens who was more Widely Known and Famous as "Mark Twain": "Rumors of My Demise Have Been Greatly Exaggerated" Tomorrow I go to Syracuse to a Concussion Specialist who will closely examine My skull, thick as It may be, for FRESH cracks, lumps, knots, or fissures not counting the dozens of STALE Cranial defects I have carried on my Coconut for years. I will also be examined for a possible Thoracic Fracture, among other possible complications. I contemplated hurling some muskrat floats out the window of the Rice-Burning Rodeo into the flood swollen brooks today on my way to my Doctor's appointment but it would have been a left armed toss which is not currently possible due to my wounded left paw and appendage. Adding insult to my injuries, I spied several Muskrats and a Traveler beaver squatted on the Ice who leered insolently at walleyed from the safety of their Ice flows, and after yelling a shouted warning at these rude creatures regarding the specific circumstances of their impending doom in the near future, they each threw back their heads in disdain for walleyed and waddled or scampered to the Ice edge and plopped into the water from their Icy perch. Muskrat Collection withdrawal is a torture of the cruelest variety. This is a subject I can now speak about with authority from personal experience. Stay Tuned walleyed

Every rat trapper near Bob, put on your Fur Fairy outfits and drop off at least one muskrat. Hopefully there are at least six of you? Good fairies... good. ;D

I have tried for 45 minutes to transfer a photo of the Coyote Fairy's stink dog and above is the best I could do. Would have been nice to include some instructions on how to navigate the "new" site. Too many steps, too many buttons, too many options that don't work for me. If anyone has this new abortion figured out, maybe they could post a step by step for us computer idiots. TMC's Message must have garbled in transmission as I was returning from the Garage where my wrecked Silverado is stored to find the COYOTE FAIRY (one of My neighbors) unloading a big Female KI-YUTE on my doorstep which he just whacked in his pasture with his .222 right through the melon just above the eyes exiting the rear end of her left flank right on the hairline. The Stink Dog didn't seem especially rubbed so I just now finished dutifully skinning the thing so as not to offend the shooter. There will be no need for a PT session at the Medical Center today as I have full stretched the muscles in my neck and back sufficiently for the day, and Now I would lay down to recuperate if I was able to lie prone to rest. LOL Still waiting for the Muskrat Fairy to arrive. I'm really not near ready to pull on my hip boots as I seem to have just a bit of pain everywhere. On my way to the Doctor's office I saw two different tappers stringing steel where I normally run sets and talked to one who had already had two floats stolen today. Not Pretty stay tuned walleyed

what are the water conditions like up there? I see a forecast of steady 30s day / 20s night straight thru to next weekend. Hard to believe any slow flows will remain open thru that

Hard to believe any slow flows will remain open thru that It was about 35 degrees today , with on and off snow storms some sticking, some not. Roads are clear because it's too warm , and snow keeps melting. Many slow flows popped open today after 1/4" ice freeze-over earlier in the week I just loaded about 25 armed floats into the "truck" (Rice-Burner) and I'm about to patch holes in my hip boots. My muskrat withdrawal symptoms are near terminal, so I'm going to give it a shot in the AM and die with my Boots On. ;D ;D ;D Stay tuned w

Maybe you could convince the ins.co. that the leaks in your boots were the result of the Silverado war and get a new pair.I have outgrown liking cold wet feet all day when water trapping.

I'm watching the forecast like a buzzard perched on a gut-wagon... all I see are 20s and teens thru most of next week for lows, and some days not above freezing.
Considering I'm 3+ hours from here to first set locations near Drum, gotta time the weather correctly. It won't work if I roll in fully loaded and everything is locked up with ice. Chomping at the bit to wet some steel, but probably need to wait until next weekend instead.
Last years 80s and sun... this year 20s and cold. Whatever happened to just plain seasonal weather for once?

Walleye, I hope you feel better soon. The Rats and the minks are running great. We are averging 2 mink, 5 rats, and one beaver per day here in montgomery county. Along The mohawk river is being fur friendly. I hope you get that 62lb beaver to take first place in the beaver contest. I thought I did the other day but he weighed in at 54lbs.

Stay Clear of Fort Drum, or Grand-Father Rockwood will MOW YOU DOWN!!!!! LOL W He's busy this weekend listening to flatiron's squirrel mutts yapping at every coon hide that's dragged thru the door tomorrow, and then locked horns in bidding wars with Cocolamus Creek on Sunday. I'll slip right in and deploy steel before he ever knows my canoe slapped the Indian River!
