Sounds to me like everyone is looking for a way to obtain free traps......
I have posted land. If I was to find someones traps on my land I would gather the traps up and hang them on a tree or in a pile next to one of the sets along with one of my posted signs and a note warning the person. Could be a kid who didn't know any better, could be someone who just didn't know he crossed over into my property, etc. Benefit of the doubt initially. People make mistakes.

This one is easy....if I find traps or another treestand on my property, they will be advertised on the Tman trap shed shortly thereafter. I found traps with no tags before and called the DEC, he told me to take them. In which case you could legally be charged with sales of stolen property while said hapless buyer(s) of your tman sales could be charged with possession of stolen property. Convictions or otherwise, the charges could legally be filed. Be nice of you to mention how you came by those traps or deer stands in the online adverts. ** Found property can be possessed by the landowner until legal ownership is discovered, but found property is not automatically finders => keepers in the court of law. Your econ officers who tell to take such found traps are not guaranteeing you legal ownership nor are they a judge who can hear both sides of a legal case. It is legal to observe a trap chain for nametags which does not disturb the integrity of a legal trap set. It is lawful to disturb or disable ANY illegally set trap, i.e. #330s on land, footholds larger than 5.75" on land, traps set on beaver lodges, traps set on muskrat houses, bodygrip traps set on public trails. etc. ANYONE can disturb ANY illegal trap-set at any time. There is zero legal protection for disturbance of illegal traps = sets. Definition of such does include traps set on private land without proper premission from the landowner.

hmmmm would love to know the legal definition of "apparently unused land" and opens up the next issue which is the guy accesses "apparently unused land" sets up a tree stand, falls out of tree stand, then decides to research who owns it so they can initiate a law suit against land owner (i guess posting your land is the equivelent of manufacturers warning labels? ?), i certainly do not question your researched info erict, but certainly question (in general not you) why all the responsibility would fall onto the tax paying land owner and not the less than 5% of the folks too lazy to do the research (to find out if the land is private or public) and then obtain permission from land owner

Is there a way to take our posts that went off topic and put them into a new thread? I want to respond to some good stuff posted since I last posted but this is really so far off topic and I apologize for that. So, that said, .....--->

There doing very well, I averaged 69 on my red fox, majority Nov caught, I had no greys but I would expect them close to 50. Oh by the way, I had a frosted rump red fox go for $140 at NAFA, so make sure no one docks your prices for frosted or flat.
