According To VP Karola Owens report in American Trapper no one has offered to host NTA East Reginal. Why would this be?

from how i understand it: for it to be in new york lets say, there has to be like 100-150 volunteers willing to work it.......also i think our grounds wouldnt be big enough

Mr. Centro....You understand it wrong.....The New York State Trappers Association has hosted the NTA Northest Regional Convention 2 times in the past 5 years (once at the Herkimer County Fairgrounds & once at the Washington County Fairgrounds) as well as the NTA National Convention and Fur Takers of America conventions in the past. While it does take volunteeers, it is no where near 100-150 (more on the lines of 50-75). It has been discussed/debated at several BOD meetings whether to host another or not and there hasn't been a decision made as yet.

I think people's expectations are high because they hear NTA and figure it's a large event. I think it's safe to say our NYSTA convention is much larger. In the beginning alot of vendors were all in for the regionals. Due to poor attendance as well as the fact it is held in May the popularity from the dealers point of view faded. Good fund raiser for the NTA bad investment for dealers. Only the NTA regionals in NY have been profitable in the east as far as I can tell.

You fellas have to rethink things if prices continue in the upward direction. If you haven't noticed ,tons of new people, and likely much larger conventions than in the last 30 years.

I've been to the regionals and trust me most had more vendors than visitors in all but NY. There is a reason they have a hard time having a northeast show. There are several state conventions already in the northeast that are well attended. I see several of the same faces at each show. From a trappers perspective the more shows the better for socializing , demos, and just the atmosphere but for a vendor to pay the same booth fees as you would the regular NTA National show plus traveling and hotel costs not a wise move most times.
